The price is reflective of the fact that worst season for availability coincides with the busiest time for demand, and is completely beyond our control.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, all of our lobsters are now sold under Whitby Lobster Hatchery’s “Buy one, release one” scheme. For every lobster we sell, a donation is made to the hatchery, allowing a lobster to be bred and reared in captivity, and then released into the wild to replenish stocks.

In rare cases availability may force us to substitute the smaller items in a selection with different items of a similar quality and value. We will never substitute Crabs or Lobsters without contacting you for approval. If you would prefer not to receive substitutions, please say so in the comments section at checkout.

Unfortunately, some shellfish is all but impossible to source fresh in the UK in any kind of quantity, so we (like most if not all British suppliers) are forced to use a certain amount of frozen stock.
